Heartland Film also elected new Board Officers effective January 1, 2026. David Wong (Barnes & Thornburg LLP) is the new Board Chair. David Wong has been on the Heartland Film Board of Directors since 2014. Over the years, he served as the Vice Chair (2023 & 2024) , Secretary (2022) and advised on the Governance Committee.

Heartland Film was founded in 1991 with the mission to curate, promote and celebrate thoughtful and engaging films. In 2025, Heartland Film hosted the 8th Indy Shorts International Film Festival and the 34th Heartland International Film Festival. For the third year in a row, the festivals were honored on MovieMaker Magazine's list of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World (2023, 2024 & 2025). Both festivals also made the 2025 list of 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee. Dates for the 2026 festivals are set for:
