(December 7, 2022) Non-profit arts organization Heartland Film, Inc. welcomed six new board members on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. These additions follow the successful conclusion of the 31st Heartland International Film Festival (October 6-16, 2022) and the start of Heartland Film's new mini-movie series, Merry Movie Nights.
"As Heartland Film continues to grow in programming and outreach, expanding our network of local leaders is a top priority," said Michael Ault, President. "I know each of these individuals will take our organization to new heights as they help us engage with our community."

The Heartland Film Board Officers include Kim Dollin as Board Chair, Turner John (TJ) Woodard as Vice Chair, David Wong as Secretary, and John Dewey as Treasurer.

Heartland Film was founded in 1991 with the mission to curate, promote and celebrate thoughtful and engaging films from diverse perspectives. In 2022, Heartland Film hosted the 5th Indy Shorts International Film Festival and the 31st Heartland International Film Festival. Both festivals this year were honored by MovieMaker Magazine. Indy Shorts made MovieMaker's top 20 Best Short Film Festivals in the World for 2022 and both festivals made their 2022 list of 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee. Heartland Film is hosting a new mini-movie series, Merry Movie Nights at the Arts for Lawrence's Theater at the Fort on December 15, 16, 17 & 18. Attendees will receive hot chocolate as they experience their favorite holiday films on the big screening. There are lots of festive activities before or after the screening, with the City of Lawrence's Winterfest just down the street. Winterfest is home to outdoor ice skating, music and market.
